The journey was organized within two quick days.
Adeesha, Sanjeewa, Pramod also joined with me in the journey. 😎 , Unfortunately, Daham, Darshana, Dilshan,
Chinthaka, Mahesh and Salik were not able to join with us.🙄 We had planned to start trekking in the early
morning but were not able to. 😁🤣 I met Adeesha & Pramod @ UOP, then went to pick up Sanjeewa
ayya from his house.😉 We had doubts about how long we could travel by motorcycles and if
there would be a safe location to park them. Therefore we decided to park our
motorcycles somewhere halfway of our journey. Thought it would be best to park
the motorcycles at my cousin sister’s home at Doluwa Junction and start our
journey.😎 Then we got into the well known Mahakanda bus.🤭 The bus usually travels only up until
Mahakanda 🤭🤣, so we had to hire a tuk-tuk to travel Sarasavigama 🙄.
We did get down at Sarasavigama and started by
feet😉. We walked up to the Uplands Tea Factory road. After the next 1,300
meters, we came across a Hindu Kovil which was one of the iconic in that area🤔. For anyone who would prefer to travel by
motorcycle, the current Grama Niladari would provide for parking facility 😊since her house is located very next to
Kovil. A few of Adeesha's friends were on their way to our location but by
scooters. The Grama Niladari happily let us park the scooters at her home🤨.
So, we began the hike knowing that we had around
1,100 meters more to go🤨. It is obviously possible to travel through the route using a
motorcycle or even by a 4 x 4 jeep🤔. (I guess a car can be managed with a skilled driver 😉). This road came to an end near the 2nd Division Uplands Line Houses🤨. From that point onwards there is no
alternative than travelling on your own foot🚶️. (Other than someone volunteer to carry you
😉)
We started trekking at around 11 o'clock in the
morning🙄🤨. First, we headed through Mana bushes. I would highly recommend long-sleeved
shirts and trousers for more convenience😂🤷️. The path was a one which was not clearly visible
towards Uragala Mountain😉. After about 400 meters the path divided into two narrow paths🤨😂. Using our previous trekking experience we
picked one assuming it was more suitable for us.
At around 11.45 a.m. we were able to reach the
first 30-degree angle slope of the rock. Due to harsh sunlight, the rock was
heavily heated🤷️😣. After we climbed it we felt that it was a bit
too easy😋. But should mention that there were occasions when the slope of the
rock was high and we found it hard to climb🧗️.
We reached the most awaited Uragala Peak at 12.45
p.m.💪 Had lunch at the peak itself and did not forget to take some
photographs, which was the only souvenir we loved to take back with us. Then we
reached the Summit🧗️😊. After that, we went to seek what we came for.
The 45-degree angle Rock Platform!!!🤗. Reaching there only could be done if you trust your Confidence😉😎.
After clicking the dream captures, we started to climb
down from Uragala Peak. Climbing upwards is much easy than climbing towards
down.😋🙊 After travelling on our foot for 8.4km we finally
reached to Sarasavigama town and we hop into a CTB bus. We get down at Doluwa
Junction to get back our Motorcycles from my cousin sisters’ place😂😉.
Tips
for you 😉 -
01 - There is no drinking water at the Uragala Mountain. (Take as much as
you need).
02 - Don't hike Uragala Peak on rainy days (The rocks get more slippery
and you'll even end up
your life if you fall).
03 - Don't hike alone (Green Leopards and Bulls live in the area).
04 - Please leave only footprints and take as much of photographs only
back with you
05
- Don't use alcohol while hiking and don't destroy nature (Some of the
idiots
consume alcohol and leave the smashed bottles on and nearby the rocks.
Beware of sharpie
glass shatters)
06 - Please leave your portable sound system while travelling in nature.
(It would definitely
annoy the wildlife in the area)
07 - The hike difficulty is moderate (In case of an emergency, take a pack
of first-aid
including bandages, Betadine, Gauze, Jeewani, Knee guard and Ankle guard)
